About the project
Inspired by the Government of Uganda “4-acre model” farms of Operation Wealth Creation, the Nagalaale Model Farm project in Kayini Parish is set to become an example of agricultural excellence. This expansive farm will not only showcase best practices in both crop cultivation and animal husbandry but also contribute significantly to the immediate parish’s food security and nutrition.
The farm has already begun production, with fields of maize, beans, peas, and matooke. A dedicated section will soon be devoted to cultivating a variety of vegetables, ensuring a diverse and nutritious food basket for the local community.
In the near future, the Farm will expand its operations to include poultry, goats, and cows. This integrated approach to agriculture aims to create a self-sustaining ecosystem that provides both sustenance and economic opportunities for the surrounding area.
The Farm project is a testament to the commitment to sustainable agriculture and the eradication of hunger, aligning perfectly with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 2. By investing in food production and promoting responsible farming practices, this project is paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for the region.
Nagalaale Foundation has planted nearly 100 acres of pine trees. This ambitious project serves as a powerful model for community-led climate action, proving the potential for collective efforts to heal our planet.
The Foundation is developing a fish pond, with a capacity for over 20,000 mud fish, this is planned to become a model for sustainable aquaculture in the region. This initiative will not only provide sources of income but will also significantly expand dietary options and improve nutrition for the Kayini parish community.
The Nagalaale Model Farm is more than just a farm; it is a symbol of hope for a more sustainable and food-secure future. By investing in agriculture, nutrition, and education, this project is empowering local communities to build a brighter tomorrow.
